TRADITIONS FOR NEW YEARS!

Tradition of welcoming the New Year by organizing feasts and celebrations has been carried forward since ancient times. Historians believe that New Year tradition were started by ancient Babylonians more than 4,000 years ago. Egyptians, Romans, Celts continued it and now the present generation cherish this tradition by celebrating New Year in the most extravagant manner.
Most countries across the globe celebrate New Year on January 1. This day officially became the first day of the year in 46 BC when Julius Caesar established the Julian calendar. However, many countries and communities follow different calendars and celebrate their New Year in an entirely different time of the year by following their own specific customs and traditions. Given here is glimpse of New Year traditions as observed on January 1 in countries following Gregorian calendar.

New Year's Eve
Celebrations begin on the New Year Eve on December 31st. Hotels, restaurants, clubs and pubs organize
New Year Eve balls and parties. People sing, dance and make merry. Fun events and contests are also organized to entertain the crowd. As New Year falls at the peak winter time in many countries bonfires are lit to keep the people warm. And just when the clock strikes for midnight firecrackers are burst to welcome the advent of New Year. People greet Happy New Year with a warm hug to every one around them. With loved ones and friends at a distance people exchange greetings through SMSs and phone calls. No wonder, phone network see maximum traffic at this time.

New Year's Day Celebrations
To mark the auspicious beginning of New Year, people wear fresh new clothes and clean up their house. Many prefer to spend this day in the company of their family members and dear ones. People also visit their friends and exchange New Year Gifts and greetings with them. Restaurants, multiplexes and malls experience a busy time on New Year's Day
as many prefer to spend the day by watching movies and eating out with dear ones. There is also a trend of going out for picnics or to exotic tourist destinations to celebrate the day.

New Year's Resolutions
One of the most popular New Year custom is to make
New Year Resolution. The tradition is said to have been started by early Babylonians who resolved to start the New Year with a clean state by returning borrowed farm equipment. Even in present times, people make New Year resolutions. Though it has been noticed that most people fail to carry them forward beyond the first week of New Year. Some of the most popular New Year resolutions including promises to quit smoking, losing weight, waking up early and being punctual.

New Year's Parades
In several countries, there is a popular tradition of organizing
New Year Parades. In the United States, one of the most famous parades is the Tournament of Roses where the floats are all decorated with flowers. Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco and the New Year's Day Parade of London are other most participated and talked about parades of the world. A large number of people throng the entire route of fun-filled parade to watch giant balloons, tableau and dancers in colorful costumes.

New Year's Games
In many countries, people enjoy the New Year by indulging in games and sports. Athletics, football, cricket are some of the most popular New Year sports. In some countries, special tournaments are organized for New Year's Day. Many participate while others
enjoy them on TV. In households people recreate by participating in indoor games and activities.

ARCADIO FUENTES JR. WINS 2011 GALA AWARD

The Gala Foundation announced today that there will be another recipient of the Gala Awards in the near future. Gala Officials are working the logistics and the right forum to present a Special "Lifetime Achievement " Award to an honored Icon in the midst of our Gala Network of Families. The month of January will be devoted to highlight all the Gala Award winners for 2011. The Gala Awards has been a successful initiative since its inception in 1984 and is administered by the Gala Foundation. In recent discussions, the Creators of the Gala Awards spoke about expanding the prize to Exemplary Pillars that are not necessarily members of the original families. The Gala Foundation now works as an International Institution and Network of families and so it is prudent and fitting to recognize Outstanding people that reflect a life of dedication and service to their fellowman.

KEEPING CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS

By Irving Serrano

Many people who are not Christians believe that" He was a great and wise teacher. He was certainly one of the most influential people who ever lived" ( The world book Encyclopedia). Jesus Christ, the founder of Christianity. Do you know who He is? Does He in any way effect your life? The events of Jesus ministry are recorded in the Bible in four historical works called the Gospels. How genuine are these accounts? After analyzing them, the well-known historian Will Durant wrote: " That a few simple men should in one generation have invented so powerful and appealing a personality, so lofty an ethic and so inspiring a vision of human brotherhood, would be a miracle far more incredible than any recorded in the Gospel". To millions of people in the orient and elsewhere, though, Jesus Christ is a stranger. They may believe that He existed, but they do not think that He has any bearing on their lives. Others dismiss Jesus as unworthy of attention because of what professed followers of His have done. They dropped an atom bomb on Nagasaki,`some in Japan would say,`a city with more Christians than most cities in Japan. Yet, would you blame a physician for a patients illness if the patient failed to stick to the doctors prescription? Obviously not. People of Christendom have long ignored Jesus prescription for overcoming their day-to-day problems. So rather than reject Jesus because of so-called Christians, who do not follow His instructions, why not learn something about Him for yourself? Look into the Bible, and see who Jesus really is and how he can even change your life. LOVE-- His Prescription. Jesus Christ was a great teacher who lived in Palestine almost 2,000 years ago. Very little is known about His childhood. (Mathew, chapters 1 and 2; Luke chapters 1 and 2) When He became 30 years of age, Jesus started His ministry to" bear witness to the truth". (John 18:37; Luke 3:21-23) During His ministry, Jesus gave His disciples the key to dealing with various problems in their lives. What was that key? It was love. In one of the best-known sermons in history, called the sermon on the mount, Jesus taught His disciples how to show love for fellow humans. He said:" All things. therefore, that you want men to do to you, you also must likewise do to them"(Matthew 7:12). This principle is called the Golden Rule. The "men" that Jesus referred to here include even ones enemies. In the same sermon, He said:" Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those persecuting you".(Matthew 5:44)Would not such love solve many of the problems that we face today? Hindu leader Mohandas Gandhi thought so. He is quoted as saying:" When(we) shall get together on the teachings laid down by Christ in this Sermon on the Mount, we shall have solved the problems....of the whole world". Jesus teachings of love, if applied, can cure mankind's ills. His Love in Action; Jesus practised what He taught. He put the interest of others ahead of His own and demonstrated love in action. One day, Jesus and His disciples were ministering to many people, without taking time to eat a meal. Jesus saw the need for His disciples to "rest up a bit", so they headed to a lonely place. But the crowd got ahead of them and were waiting for their arrival. How would you have responded if you had been in Jesus position? Well, Jesus "was moved with pity for them" and started to teach them many things" (mark 6:30-34) This strong feeling of pity moved Him to offer assistance to others. What Jesus did for the benefit of others was not limited to spiritual teaching. He also extended practical help. For an example, He fed 5,000 men( in addition to woman and children) who had been listening to Him until late one day> He fed another 4,000 in a later instance. On the earlier occasion, He used five loaves and a few little fish. (Matthew 14:14-21; 15:32-38; Mark 6:35-44; 8:1-9) Miracles? Yes, He was a miracle worker.Jesus also healed many ailing ones. He cured the blind, the lame, the lepers, and the deaf. Why, He even raised the dead! (Luke 7:22; John 11:30-45) Once, a leper entreated Him:" If you just want to, you can make me clean." How did Jesus respond? "He stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him:I want to. Be made clean." (Mark 1:40-41) Jesus was moved by a strong desire to help them. Through such miracles, He demonstrated His love for the afflicted. Christmas, such a happy time, but so greater is the feeling of celebrating it with its true meaning. Celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. When you read, learn and consider Jesus teachings, we take on a learned behavior. We are moved to want to imitate His love.

WHO WILL WIN THE GALA AWARDS FOR 2011?

FLASH-Tampa-2011- Who will win the Gala Awards for 2011? The Gala Foundation has announced that two Gala Awards will be given to to distinguished community "Pillars" and exemplary Icons to the sphere that they live in.  The Gala Foundation began to recognize key people within the family since 1983.  Noel recently stated that the Gala Award Winners will be announced shortly after the Christmas themes are over on both Gala sites and will showcase the two Gala Award Winners . The following is a brief history of the Gala Awards  The Gala Awards was created by Noel Serrano and Joaquin Maldonado for the Gala Foundation during the early Gatherings of the 1980s. Noel felt that an Award should be given to an exemplary figure that emerges from our Members. In the very early years, there was no such award given. Noel thought that there were so many, whose time had come to recognize some of these "Giants" within.

In 1984, the sudden death of Boyie Mohammed, led Noel to present a special gift to the widow, Norma Mohammed, for her endurance in a very dark and painful time. In 1985, Felicita M. Serrano received a special recognition for her Legendary Example to her family.

In 1986, it was the time for Francisco Serrano and Nieves Bosch to receive the Man of the Year and Woman of the Year for their respective roles within our Organization.

In 1987, there were actually four presentations. Felicita M. Serrano received the first Posthumous Gala Award. Joaquin Maldonado finally received a much-deserved Lifetime Gala Award for his legendary Contribution to our family, for it was his vision that inspired all these family institutions that exist today. Noel Serrano was surprised when he received his own Gala Award. (Felicita's last act as the Secretary of the Gala Foundation, was to request that this Award be given)

In 1988, Octavio Bosch, the strong Bosch veteran received the coveted award for his legendary example to the family. Frances S. Rosado won the 1888 Gala Award and it was presented by "President Reagan".

In 1989 did not have a Gala Award winner due to a brief shut down of the Gala Foundation operations. It has been the only year that the institution halted operations due to personal reasons. Thank God that it was only a temporary shut down due to mitigating circumstances.

In 1990, the Gala Awards was in full bloom and now it was Dear Hilda Bosch, the strong Bosch Matriarch who graciously received the Gala Award and was the only winner that year. One can recall that special moment, frozen in time, when all tears glistened as this precious woman of God came up to receive her due reward. Hilda was so choked up with emotion that Joaquin made a special prayer for her along with the rest of the family.. It was truly a memorable moment.

In 1991, Clarita Maldonado joined the ranks of Gala Award recipients when she received her very own award or Recognition for all her hard work and example that advances the causes of the organization. Clarita is an enduring Institution in her own right. Joaquin has stated many times: "I could not do the things that I do without my faithful companion" Nivia B. Torres also won an award for that year and for the circumstance that were present at that time.

In 1992, Joaquin Maldonado became the only living family member to receive the Gala Award two times. (Only the late Felicita M. Serrano received two Gala Awards but one was given posthumously in 1987) Gladys S. Morales joined the ranks in the Hall of Gala Award winners, for her life time example to her family.

In 1993, the Gala Award went to Sarah Ortiz, for her Outstanding contribution to our family. Sarah joined the rank of the Family Elders within a year. the Award was shipped to Puerto Rico and was special delivered in time for Christmas Eve.

In 1994, the award was presented to Victor Ortiz, the strong Ortiz Patriarch in Puerto Rico was elated when he received the prestigious award and was also included in the rank of Elders. Miriam B. Fuentes also received a much deserved Gala Award for her ongoing role and outstanding example for our family.

In 1995 Maria Balsera Serrano won the Gala Award for her contribution to the Organization. This Award is ongoing and very special. The Gala Award is never given to just any one. It must and will be given to those who truly earn it. We congratulate all of these great family members who have been honored through the years and may this Institution serve to inspire to achieve great things in the Lord so that his blessing will enhance our every path. we all agree that the true award in life is to live an exemplary life and to inspire others to also live a productive and a progressive life in the Lord. that is our goal. That is the central policy of this enduring institution. may we always be able to recognize the unsung heroes in our growing family. Between the years of 1995 and 2009 the Gala Foundation posthumously recognized Honorary Gala Awards for all of our dearly departed Family Icons such as Rev. Lucas "Toto" Maldonado, Jose Molina,Felicita Pabon, the mother of the late Francisco Serrano, Rev Amador Serrano,Amelia Bonhomme, Wilson Serrano . In 2009  Michelle Maldonado  and the late Awilda Bosch were recipients of the Gala Awards, with Awilda receiving it posthumously.  In 2010, the Gala Award went to the hardworking Gala Associate Administrator an Editor of La Fundacion Gala, Raquel Gonzalez, for her "Lifetime Achievement' and "yeoman" work with the Gala Foundation. and the Gala Awards Honors continue as we  await the Gala Winners for  2011 (To be announced very soon)
If you would like to be a part of this and many projects that we have for all Gala members, please take a moment to write to  Noel Serrano at ttinserrano@yahoo.com You are also welcome to nominate a candidate for the Gala Award. May we always learn from these Gala Award Winners! Many of them have gone on to receive their Higher Reward in Heaven, to be forever with Our Lord. They were the Best and the Brightest Lights amongst us. We shall continue to recognize and honor those that dwell with us and shine in their corner of the world. Help us determine who should be the next Gala Award Winner.

TIS, ALWAYS THE SEASON TO BE JOLLY!

By Irving Serrano Sr

There is a chill in the air. People rushing around you everywhere. You hear Christmas music. Undeniably, it`s the happy`est time of the year. Christmas; celebrated throughout the world. Christians, celebrate the birth of Christ Jesus, and rejoice in this season, as well as any other season. This is a repetition found in (Philippians 3:1), with this addition" always", for there is always cause and matter for rejoicing in Christ, even in times of affliction, distress, and persecution; since he is always the same; his grace is always sufficient; his blood has a continual virtue in it, and always speaks for peace and pardon; his righteousness is an everlasting one, and so is his salvation, and such is his love; though some join this word with what follows, ' and again, I say, rejoice; this is what continually inculcated by him, as being of great importance and use for the comfort of believers, and honour of Christ. As Christians,in our daily walk of life, we' sing joyfully to the Lord, as it is fitting for the upright'. (Psalm 33:1) As Christians;' we may be sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; and having nothing, and yet possessing everything'. (2nd Corinthians 6:10). So as Christians, we can quote ( Habakkuk 3:18), 'yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in my God, and Savior'. May God bless you. Love always, Irving Serrano Sr.

THE GIFT

         By Irving Serrano Sr

In the day`s of the Bible, times of great joy were often accompanied by the giving of gifts, one to another (Nehemiah 8:10, Esther 9:22, Revelations 11:10). This ancient custom, practiced commonly in all nations throughout history, finds its greatest expression today at Christmas time, when the joy of the wise men (Mathew 2:10) and the joyful tidings of the angels (Luke 2:10) echo in millions of family circles around the world and even where Christ Himself is not known, people share the joy of giving. Fathers take pride in naming their sons after them. Parents teach, and protect their children. All because of a spirit of giving of ones self. The Bible tells us God made man, in His own image. He takes great concern in us. God, gave us a gift. He gave us Christ. " For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, (Jesus Christ) John 3:16a. Now; Christ's gift to us is Heaven. " That whosoever believeth in Him (Jesus Christ) should not perish ( In Hell) but have everlasting life( In Heaven).(John 3:16b) A person could go through life, work hard and be kind to others. But without the gift of God, these persons will perish. Having wealth, or giving gifts will not get you a ticket to heaven. In Mathew, we read what Christ, said to Nicodemus. Some people say God's greatest gift to man, was the woman. A gift, a companion yes, but far from the greatest gift. The ultimate gift God gave to man was Christ, who paid the ultimate price. So that we (everyone) can have the opportunity to go to Heaven, when we leave this earth. (James 1:17) " Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning". Just as sure as you plan on what you intend to wear tomorrow. I urge you to think a minute, and understand that you must make a choice. Please accept Christ,  the gift of eternal salvation. Understand, by not taking action, by not speaking to God, asking Him, to be your Lord, and Savior, You would otherwise be making the wrong choice. God says, Your either for Him, or against Him. I hope you choose eternal life.
May God bless you.
Love always, Irving Serrano Sr.

REMEMBERING WHY I THANK GOD

By Irving Serrano Sr

In a few days it`ll be Thanks Giving, A day where families unite to visit and have a big dinner. Along side of the music, laughter and children playing. In alot of homes, You could here prayers. Some spoken out loud, and others softly whispered. Never the less, prayers of thanks. People just thanking God, for His mercy. Thanking our Lord and Savior for all the wonderful blessings in our lives. A few days ago, while on the job. Some friends were reminding me of a few accidents Iv had, be it on a motor cycle or some type of vehicle. As they exchanged stories, my mind wondered back in time. Approximately about ten years ago my wife Damaris and I, managed a dollar store in the City of Philadelphia. My wife would always walk the owner out when he`d come to pick up the deposits. On this day, for some reason I decided to accompany the owner out. His vehicle was parked just in front of the store. When he went to open his door a box of papers was falling out, he sat the money bag on the floor as he fan dangled with this box of papers. I picked up the money bag, so as not to leave it on the ground, Suddenly a man grabs me from behind and starts trying to grab the money bag. I gripped him up & wrestled with him pinching his body between me and the owners truck. All the while the man was asking me to let him go, but he still wanted the money bag....for a strange reason the owner had not felt the commotion, it wasn`t long before I felt a cold piece of steel behind my ear, turns out the man had a gun. He reminded me he asked me to let him go. I guess i surprised him when I had a good grip on him. It happened so fast no one saw to come give me a hand, and that's funny too cause I'm usually never alone. I told the owner; Hey! you see whats happening? then he looked up and said oh, yea. At that point I just went limp and let the man unravel the money bag from my hand, I still didn`t want to just give it to him. As he grabbed the bag he turned to run, I was two steps behind him. My boss yelled out to me No, just let him go. At that moment the man turned around and fired right at me.....Well thank God, the shot went low and right between my legs. By then we drew a big crowd, and there was plenty information to give to the police. Later witnesses asked me; Why did I fight a man holding a gun? I told them; truthfully I never saw the gun. I thank God because the strength I had was not mine, but His. The enemy sent a demon to murder me, but our God did not allow it. Everyday we wrestle with the enemies lies. He tries to make us loose sight on our walk with God. Constantly trying to make us loose focus with our faith, and communication with God. I urge you as this day of thanks Giving approaches. Take some time, think about some of the things God, has done for you, and your family. Lets all thank Him, for His mercy. And for our salvation. May you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Love always, Irving Serrano Sr.

BEING THANKFUL TO GOD...A DAILY AFFAIR

 By Irving Serrano Sr

There is a coolness in the air, the leaves are dropping from the trees. Everything around us reminds us of the change in season. The birds in the air fly south, to enjoy the warmer climates. They fly for hours at a time, and some how never get lost. they stop, rest, eat and continue on their way. I am convinced that God, has a hand in this. He tells us in His word; he cares for every foul in the air, and He goes on to point out:' how much more are we important to Him'. He gave us free will, yet we some times forget to thank him. He says to us;" this is the way", but we some times decide to go our own way. He gave us the authority over every plant, and everything on this earth. And still, some of us get caught in the web of deceit, the lies of the enemy. As the Holidays approach, lets take the time to remember Our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Lets thank Him, humbly, as if we were just one of His birds, in the air. Remember, if His eyes are on the sparrow, you just gotta know, He watches over you. On this ' Thanks Giving', lets show God, our creator and provider, whose guidance and care, go before us. And whose love is with us forever. Let us make this Thanks Giving, a time to reflect on the changes, to remember that we too, grow and change from one season of life to another. Despite what circumstances we face. Continue to trust in Gods word. Hold on to His promises. Thanking Him daily, as He guides our every path. Allow Him, to sanction any decision, any ideas or interest. As we thank him for our families, our friends, let us thank  Him, for giving us breath of life. For allowing us to be called His chosen. May God bless you.
 Love always, Irving Serrano Sr.

BORN INTO THIS WORLD

By Irving Serrano

There are times we read articles that appear to poke, or pic at there readers. Some people are intrigued by this, and continue to read on. Others decide not to bother. They choose not to invest their time in what they think the subject is about, or even if the information they receive, would be of any help to them. We live in a fast-pace world where we often find ourselves adapting to new technology. If you were able to talk to someone like George Washington, or Abraham Lincoln, and said; I transport myself with a vehicle that has double overhead cams, 32 valves, throttle body and a five speed transmission.' They would look at you as if you came from another planet. Providing, they could understand your language. All through the ages man has always taken an interest in the stars, and wondered of the possibility of life on other planets. We have counselors of different types who use the metaphors, suggesting Men are from Mars, and Women are from Venus. There are so many gimmicks, and trickery used in our world. So many people buy in to overnight get rich scams. Truth is hidden behind deeper, and deeper. Many know and understand that it`s just the way we humans roll. I personally like new things also. And it doesn't bother me if someone says to me; your a nut, or you must be from another planet. I know, I am from this planet we call Earth, because I was born here. We are all born into this world, but we are not of this world. God created the heavens and the earth. Satan, was cast down along with his fallen angles. Everyone born into this world has a pre--paid ticket, to enter Gods Kingdom, we call Heaven. Jesus, saw to that when He died on the cross, for our sins. It is sad that there are many who have yet to redeem their ticket, their Salvation. In the Bible, we read about Noah, and the Ark, he built. Everyone laughed at Him. No one believed. But he persisted in His quest, he obediently followed instruction. He actually prepared salvation for himself, along with his family. All because he had faith, in what he believed in. (Hebrews 11:1) Tells us: " now faith is  confidence in what we hope for and the assurance about what we do not see". Many people live regular lives, and are very decent with their fellow neighbors, alot of us even go to church, on a regular basis. However still have their trust in what their own understanding is. On what our eyes tell us. The Bible tells us; "Lean not on our own understanding". Some people say; Aww I go with what my heart feels. Well, don't fall down, because the Bible lets us know our own heart is our big`est deceiver. Lets face it! We are only vessels passing through. God, will bless you and your family, with any need, and every desire of your heart. Providing you except His gift of salvation. His Gift of faith. Acknowledge Jesus Christ, as your Lord and savior. (Hebrews 11:6) "and with out faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him, must believe He exist, and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. We may have been born of this world, but we are not of this world. Ask God, today; for forgiveness of any action, word or thought that might have offended Him. Allow Christ, to let you have a new beginning. Do you have trouble with your spouse, are your children incorrigible? Turn it to the Lord in Prayer. Expect the change, in Jesus name.
May God bless you. Love always, Irving Serrano Sr.

THERE IS NO MYSTERY IN GOD'S PLAN FOR YOU

 By Irving Serrano

It`s really not a secret that God, has a place for His chosen. For those who believe, and carry on through life trusting in His will. Under any and all circumstances. He said; " I go prepare a place for you. That where I am, you may be there also". We should not have to pray and ask God about where, or when do we go to this place. It is God`s job to prepare the place. It is our job to prepare ourselves, so that we may be able to enter the place that God has prepared for us. Particularly those of us whom have gone through tormented times. Abuse, hardship, recklessness, and abandonment. You owe it to yourself to see what the fight was all about. You see, there was a fight for you. There was war-ing going on in the heavens. There were discussions in heaven over you. The enemy had sent his choice demons, to destroy you. You owe it to yourself, to find out what this fight is all about. You must be someone significant. Otherwise you wouldn`t have so much opposition in your life. God has a plan for you! Question? Have you ever thought of your past, and asked yourself? Why, or How ? am I still living? THIS IS WHY. GOD, is the master mind, totally intelligent, composed with a sovereign resolve. GOD, has settled your "in", since the beginning. GOD, has set you up. You will be in the place He wants you to be in. He already has bragged in heaven, and said; These shall be mine, when I make up my jewels.... GOD HAS A PLAN! And GOD, has not forgotten you. Your Boss, may have forgotten you. Your Parents, may have forgotten you, your spouse, your Children, your friends, you might think opportunity has forgotten you. But GOD say`s; " I have written their names in my hand". GOD, has seen the the end, from the beginning....He said; "I have engraved your name in my hand, I have not forgotten you". Every good deed, every act, every accomplishment, every prayer, every request-- GOD says; "I am very careful about you. I have collected your every tear-drop. Those tears that dry up on your face, as you just go on about your business, as if no one cared. GOD says; "Your tears are before me". Always know; GOD made you a person, in His own image. He created things for you. GOD created purpose for you. He created ministries for you. GOD created things for  you to do that call for the specific talents that you have. GOD gave you everything you need, so that you can enter that special place He prepared for you. When that time comes, your personality will fit the place, your gift heartiness, will fit the place, your attitude will fit the place He has prepared for you. Someone reading this right now, might not like what their reading?....But that's because one of us is out of place! I urge you, to acknowledge Jesus Christ, as your Lord and Savior. Let Him direct your paths in life. God has a strategy. The strategy is not just for when you get in the place. The process is part of the strategy. GOD is moving people places and things. There is a reason why there is turbulence going on in your life. It is His Divine strategy, when GOD starts strategizing your life, He orders the yes`s and the no`s to help them push you into the place He would want you to be in. And everything that happens in your life, is working towards a crescendo. (Romans 8:28) For we know not fate, not hope, nor wish." For we know that all things work for the good for them that Love the Lord. Who are then called according to His purpose". This means, when they say yes.... its good. And when they say no....its still good. If you get the job, its good.... if you don`t get hired, its still good. Just know that in what ever circumstance you find yourself, Praise God, and be joyful, because you may be in the process of His Divine strategy. In preparation for the place He has for you. Say to yourself: If God didn`t let me have this, its only because that is going to be so much better. Because Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and The Glory. Amen.

May God bless you. Love always, Irving Serrano Sr.

WHAT GOD HAS IN STORE FOR YOU

Whenever we think about God, it seems inevitable that we'll ask him (or others) what in the world he really wants from us.
However, we run into an internal conflict right away when we ponder who God is compared to who we are. God is perfect. He does not sin or do evil things. He is perfect and totally just in all his ways. This is what is meant when God says he is holy. The "problem" is when we realize that this perfection is also what God requires of us. He states quite clearly in the Bible, "Be holy as I am holy."
We actually need God to be perfect. If not, then what would our lives be like if, whenever God spoke to his creation, all his decrees would now be open for revision and updates? All his commandments would be reduced to nothing more than really good advice.
Here's our problem:
If God really is good, then he has no option but to exercise his wrath and judgement of our sin. Remember, if God is holy and pure then he cannot stand to be in the presence of evil or anything that falls short from his standard of true perfection.

So, God's perfection and his ensuing expectation of perfection in us does three things:
First, it tells us what God is like and that we can actually trust God to even greater degrees because we know he will always act consistently and truthfully with us.
Second, God's standard of perfection actually benefits all of us, for without rules and order in the world, we would probably self-destruct in a short amount of time. Total anarchy and chaos would reign. God's laws written on our hearts compel us to at least want to do the right thing even though we may not even acknowledge God at times. "
Third, God is the only one who can provide a solution for the problem of our falling short of God's perfect standard. Remember, we can't take a shortcut by asking God to lower his standard either.

What does God want from us? Answer: he wants us to quit trying to "fix" ourselves.
Our sin and its destructive consequences hurts and damages people. But we don't really understand the impact of sin until we recognize that it hurts God most of all. In fact, the Bible describes God as grieving over his lost and sinful creation. Not just in general either, but for each and every time one of us turns his or her back on him.
Once we fully grasp what God has saved us from, the attitude of thankfulness and service to God will be a natural outflowing. We don't have to work at thanking folks for things they do for us, we simply open our mouths and the words come; we see a need, and our hands and feet go into motion. We don't have to think about it or plan for it or psych ourselves up to do it. This same thing happens with our relationship with God.
What does God want from me?
God offers us a purpose and a plan for our lives, and never quits initiating with us even when we have turned our backs on him or have just plain forgotten about his love
He wants us to simply open our hand and receive what we somehow knew all along we needed -- forgiveness.
What does God want from us? Answer: receive what he has already done to solve the problem of our imperfection, and then thank him for it. Specifically, we need to acknowledge that Jesus Christ died on the cross in our place to pay the penalty for our sins.
Now we can understand those initial answers to the question of what God wants from us. He desires perfection because He himself is perfect. And since we are made in God's image we too can understand moral rights and wrongs, and choose between what is perfect and what is imperfect. God also desires perfection because it is the best way for us to live.
However, we all fail in this endeavour. Even our good works to our sinful natures, thinking we can help God forgive or accept us more. We cannot earn God's approval. This brings us to utter despair and gloom, which is exactly where God wants us in order to fully understand and appreciate all of what he did on his part to restore our broken relationship with him.

All we need do is humbly receive what God has already done through Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross, paying the penalty for our sin. As a result, we freely show our gratitude through word and deed back to God and his world.

As you begin to more fully embrace what it is that God has already done for you, can you see that the original question of "What does God want from me?" becomes "What do I get to do for God?"

As you live out the answers to that question, you will be thrilled to know that God has something far better in store than what you could have ever imagined.

PRAISING GOD: A LEARNED BEHAVIOR

By Irving Serrano

We often hear Kid`s, say the darnest things. I recently heard about a two year old little girl. Being born and raised in this present day, where most are surrounded by computers, and all kinds of electrical gadgetries. To most of us, its merely the way we operate in the western World, and often enough, we take things for granted. Well apparently this Child, had been around an Ipod tablet. Stories were read to her, pictures were shown to her through this device. Then one day while the Child sat by a living room table, She reached and grabbed a magazine. As she starts to realize, how she can manually turn the pages, she yelled out;" Hey this one is broken". As time goes by there are many things that become items that are not used, or only spoken about as a thing of the past. Many of us have had the honor to be raised by Christian Parents, allowing us to have a real introduction to God's Word. Whether we choose to follow and keep Christ, in our lives as adults, can still be something to contemplate. There are many, who have not had the opportunity to be acquainted with God's Word, nor His Love for us. And like then, since the beginning of time. His Word is everlasting. To some, it`s an old thing that we may remember, but we do not put in our daily walk of life. In (2 Corinthians 2:15)  it tells us that all believers in Christ Jesus are like a sweet perfume, a sweet smell of Christ, whose fragrance, others, both saved and un-saved, cannot help noticing. This fragrance, however , effects people differently by those being saved and those perishing. For those who are being saved, the believer is a sweet smell, a life giving perfume that leads to a better life in Christ. For to be in Christ is life, and not death. (John 6:47) "Verily, Verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on Him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed on from death unto life.'' For those who are perishing, that believer has a bad smell, a fearful smell of death and doom that leads to a horrible death. They perceive the message of the cross as foolishness. (1 Corinthians 1:18-19) "for the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent". As Humans, we have a natural ability to get excited about the things that are important to us. Let me encourage you, to choose to have the joy of the Lord and learn to praise God better. Realize that little Child, only have their beliefs in what they were accustomed to. God, has been your joy, your confidence, and your hope. It comes from the Lord. Praise Him through the storms in your life, and God will be there to help give you peace and comfort. His plan for us is bigger than we realize. Praising Him gives us confidence. (1Timothy 4:12) "Be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, and in purity. Great is our Lord, and greatly to be praised. Lets praise Him, for all He has done in our lives...and all He has yet to do. May God bless you.

WISDOM

By Irving Serrano Sr

Each of us have some insights, knowledge and wisdom, but the scope is usually fairly narrow and limited to our sphere of influence and knowledge---our world. We are good at what we do and have gained wisdom and foresight regarding our special interest and experience. But if we were suddenly placed in a new, unfamiliar position or found ourselves in a foreign city unable to speak the language, not knowing how to find a bathroom, we quickly become aware of our limitations. Our knowledge and experience will not help us. We except the reality that we need someone to help us. When we consider the six billion people in the world...each, having wisdom about life in their world. We realize how little wisdom each of us as individuals possess. Compared to God`s wisdom? Next to zero. Let`s think about the wisdom of God. He knows everything and is all wise. Even if we compiled all the wisdom of everyone in the world, and measured it against God`s wisdom, it would still be almost nothing. (1st Corinthians 3:19) " for the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God". Honestly; when we realize that everything we know and everything we have comes from God, we cannot think ourselves as wise, but only be humbled before Him. If we read (Job 38-41) we are reminded of the "wise advice" given to Job, by his friends when he lost everything. Job himself questioned God, about why this disaster happened to him? But God was not impressed by any of them "friends", nor their "wise advice". When we begin to recognize that our life is about God, not about us... that is the beginning of wisdom. (Proverbs 1:7) " The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom". God gives us wisdom. We simply need to ask. (James 1:5-7) " If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him". Know God by reading His word, obey the insights and directions He gives you. My prayer; God, build in us a healthy fear and reverence for you. Cause us to soak up the wisdom of your word--the only perfect words. Help us to be humble. Amen.

AN OUTFIT YOU NEED TO HAVE

By Irving Serrano

As most Christians know, we are instructed to put on" The Whole Armor Of God" to withstand the attacks of God`s enemies, Satan and his fallen angels. For those who do not know what it means, or just how to do this in real life, you will see here how to apply God`s protective armor in your life. Following Ephesians 6:11, through 6:17, we read; Put on the whole Armor of God. That ye may be Able to stand against the wiles of the Devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual host of wickedness in the heavenly places. Wherefore take up the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all. Stand therefore, having girded your loins with faith, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; withal taking up the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. A piece of armor is a Strong belt, used for truth; Satan fights with lies, and sometimes his lies sound like truth; but only believers have God`s truth which can defeat Satan's lies. The breastplate, would be God`s approval. Satan often attacks our heart, the seat of our emotions, self-worth, and trust. God`s approval is the breastplate that protects our hearts. He approves of us because He loves us and sent His Son to die for our sins. The shoes, are our readiness to" spread the good news". Satan wants us to think that telling others the good news is a worthless and hopeless task. The size of the task is too big and the negative responses are too much to handle. But the" Shoes" God gives us are the motivation to continue to proclaim the true peace which is available in God...news everyone needs to hear. Our Shield, is our faith; what we see are Satan's attacks in form of insults, setbacks, and temptations. But the shield of faith protects us from satans flaming arrows. With God`s perspective we can see beyond our circumstances and know that ultimately, victory is ours. Our Helmet, confirming our salvation; Satan wants to make us doupt God, Jesus and our salvation. The helmet protects our minds from doubting God`s saving work for us. Then finally we have our Sword; the spirit, the word of God; the word is the only weapon of offense in this list of armor. There are times when we need to take the offensive against satan. When we are tempted, we need to trust in the truth of God`s word. There are many examples throughout our daily lives where we see the need, and the use for all this armor. A sportsmen puts on protective gear, when they enter their game. However this life we encounter every day, as Christians, true believers, should be equipped with" The full Armor of God".
 May God bless you.
 Love always, Irving Serrano.

JESUS!..AN EXCLUSIVE CHOICE!

By Irving Serrano

Those who had come to know the teacher of Nazareth, proclaimed it shamelessly. They spoke of a Jesus, "who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness" (Philippians 2:6). Somehow, crammed into this fully human package was the infinite nature of God, in all his awesome attributes. Right before their naked eyes was a sight never seen before; " He is the image of the invisible God....God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him" (Collossians 1:15-19). This man was precisely like God. He was as inseparable from God as light radiating from the sun, is inseparable from its brightness. "The Son is the radiance of God`s glory and the exact representation of his being" ( Hebrews 1:2). Jesus` very closest friend during those few years in the spot light summed up his convictions about Jesus, in three short phrases. "In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God" (John 1:1). Jesus didn`t just teach about God, or try to show an example of God, or promise to lead someone to God. Jesus was God. SHOCKING WORDS, Yet those were the very words used by this Man who knew Jesus so well and who had walked so closely with him all those years. This Man from Galilee, in referring to himself, He spoke simply and clearly. "anyone who has seen me has seen the Father" ( John 14:9). No mere human teacher has ever claimed such a thing, or would dare. But Jesus spoke to them; "Look at me, and you can say you have seen God". In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the Prophets, at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe(Hebrews 1:1). The person whom we know as Jesus is our creator. "Through Him all things were made, without Him nothing was made that has been made" (John 1:3).   Their are many who don`t want to accept that the continuing existence of our universe depends on Jesus sustaining it! " The Son is the radiance of God`s glory and the exact representation of his being sustaining all things by His powerful word" (Hebrews 1:2). No matter how self-sufficient we act or self-reliant we feel, our next breath and heartbeat depend on Him. With out Jesus everything would fall apart. " He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together" (Colossians 1:17). Jesus lived, loved, taught, and healed for three years. Jealous, ambitious religious leaders played on the paranoia of the civil authorities to get Jesus killed. They executed him as a common criminal with a cruel torture. On the third day, however, His companions found an empty tomb. Over a period of six weeks, Jesus began to visit them individually and in groups-- around 500 people saw him, and talked with him first hand during that period. So far , we in the realm of the familiar. Hollywood blockbusters and Easter TV specials have repeated " the greatest story ever told" often enough that most people in the western world know these basic facts. But there is more! Jesus` companions also proclaim to us what happened to him after the Resurrection. " He humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on the cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him a name that is above every name" (Philippians 2:9). According to their testimonies, Jesus at this very moment occupies the highest place in the created or uncreated realms. His name carries greater weight, honor, and authority than any other. No scholar, thinker,or teacher or leader on earth, nor angel or demon or force in the spirit world, can challenge the supremacy of Jesus Christ.....Now and forever! Jesus said; "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. All who ever came before were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen. I am the gate; who ever enters through me will be saved' (john 10:7-9). Jesus never miss-spoke. In John 14: 6, He said;" I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me". The creator God decided to become one of us. He wanted to provide us a way to know him by becoming the way. He is reining now, His authority increasing each moment. Along with everyone who has ever known him, I urge you to bow your knee to him. Get to know him, come to love him. His rein will soon be complete. So center your lives around a loving devotion to Jesus. Build on the rock of putting into practice His word. Take action today to change for Jesus. Don`t just think about it, act on it. Jesus said;" This action " is building on the rock". May God bless you. Love always, Irving Serrano

THE ULTIMATE PLAN!

By Irving Serrano

In today's world it seems everyone is in a constant rush. A rush to go to work, a rush to get home. In the interim, the time we save by rushing seems to be lost in something else. When we here of a storm heading our way, we go right into survival mode, we go out and by food, water, flashlights, and all kinds of supplies. My question is the most important in any ones life. Your joy, or sorrow for all eternity depends on your answer. The question is; Are you saved? It is not a question of how good you are, nor if you are a Church member, but are you saved? Are you sure you will go to Heaven when you die? God says in order to go to heaven, you must be born again. In John 3:7, Jesus said to Nicodemus, "ye must be born again". We find in the Bible, God gives us the plan of how to be born again which means to be saved. His plan is simple, you can be saved today. How? First my friend, you must realize you are a sinner. " for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" ( Romans 9:27). Because you are a sinner, you are condemned to death. " for the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). This includes total separation from God in hell (Romans 3:23). " It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement" ( Hebrews 9: 27). But God loved you so much He gave his only begotten Son, Jesus, to bear your sin and die in your place. "He hath made him (Jesus, who knew no sin) to be sin for us....that we might be made righteousness of God in him" ( 2nd Corinthians 5:21). Jesus had to shed His blood and die. "For the life of the flesh is in the blood" (Leviticus17:11). Without shedding of blood is no remission (pardon) (Hebrews 9:22) "God commandeth his love towards us, that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). Although we cannot understand how, God said my sins and your sins were laid upon Jesus and He died in our place. He became our substitute. It is true. God cannot Lie. My friend, " God commandeth all men everywhere to repent" (Acts 17: 30). This repentance is a change of mind that agrees with God that one is a sinner, and also agrees with what Jesus did for us on the cross. In Acts 16: 30-31), The Philippian Jailer asked Paul and Silas; "Sir, what must I do to be saved? And they said, " Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved". Simply believe on Him as the one who bore your sin, died in your place, was buried, and whom God resurrected. His resurrection powerfully assures that the believer can claim everlasting life when Jesus is received as Savior. (John 1:12) " But as many as received Him, to them He gave power to become Sons of God, even to them that believe on His name". " For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved ( Romans 10:13). Whosoever includes you. Shall be saved means not maybe, nor can be. It means shall be saved. My friend, let me invite you to accept Gods plan of salvation. Perhaps you feel you know Jesus? You may consider rededicating your life to God, and allow Him to prepare you for the biggest storm, that has yet to come. You realize you are a sinner. Right now, where ever you are, repenting, lift your heart to God in prayer. In Luke 18: 13, The sinner prayed; Oh God, I know I am a sinner. I believe Jesus was my substitute when He died on the cross. I believe His shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection were for me. I now receive Him as my Savior. I thank you for the forgiveness of my sins, the gift of salvation and everlasting life, because of your merciful grace. Amen".

Love always, Irving Serrano.

A LEADER IN MOSES

By Irving Serrano

Some would agree He, was the most important figure in Judaism, Moses, parted the Red-Sea to free his people and brought them the Ten Commandments on stone tablets. His story appears in the Bible, and is filled with miracles and talks with God. At birth; the Hebrews, descendants of Abraham, Issac and Jacob, are slaves to Egypt's King (Pharaoh) who has ordered newborn males killed. Moses Mother hides him in a papyrus basket among the Nile`s reeds. Pharaoh`s daughter finds him, takes pity and adopts him. He flees as a young man, but God appears to him in a burning bush, and years later sends him back with his brother, Aaron, to demand the Israelites release. Plagues arrive, the Hebrews escape, and Egypt`s Army drowns in the Red-Sea. A wilderness sojourns follows, in which God, through Moses, makes a covenant with the Hebrews and lays out rites of worship and Laws of communal and personal behavior. At the age of 120, Moses dies by God`s decree just before the people enter into the land known in recent centuries as Palestine and Israel. His Hebrew name, Moshe, means " the one who draws out".....His story starts in Exodus, and ends in Deuteronomy, two of the ;five books of Moses" or, in Hebrew, the Torah ("Law") It includes the escape from Egypt.... The burning bush and stone tablets, appear on Mt. Sinai. Moses is also a figure of faith in Christianity and a Prophet in Islam. Also found in the Koran. In today's world, God makes it possible for us to serve Him, to follow and share the message of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. We must keep our sights on God. We must practise the Faith, and trust whole heartedly, and like Moses, find favor in Gods eyes, until the end of time.

9-11- WHAT MAKES US STRONGER

The goal of terrorism is to disrupt the normal activities of a group by paralyzing its members with fear. A decade later we can look back on the terror attacks of 9/11 with both historic and Christian perspective.
The World Trade Center towers in New York represented the financial strength of capitalism. The Pentagon in D.C. is the headquarters of our nation’s military prowess. And while the target of Flight 93 is subject to speculation, the White House and Capitol buildings are the literal seat of our Federal Government. Not only would large numbers of individuals be injured and killed, our very institutions would also be under attack. Nearly 3,000 lives ended as a direct result of terrorist action, a reality that should not be downplayed. But in another sense the ultimate goal of the 9/11 terrorists was never achieved. Even while our buildings were collapsing our resolve grew stronger.
FDR said we have nothing to fear but fear itself. On 9/11 we saw firefighters, police officers and even civilians put themselves deliberately into harm’s way to help others. The current condition of our economy can only be considered a “recession” when compared to our own previous levels of economic profits. No other economy in the world operates at the U.S. level of production, growth and profitability. Sadam Hussein is dead; Osama bin Laden is dead; the War on Terror continues to identify and apprehend conspirators around the world. The post 9/11 world is a different place, such that such an event on that scale could not occur today in the United States.
The American spirit – our patriotism and determination – is not in buildings made of mortar and steel. What makes us rich is not housed in banks, just like our freedom and liberty are not structures in D.C. Recall the resolve of London during World War II. Even while British cities were leveled to rubble, its people would not give in to Hitler’s Germany. Their buildings fell but not their spirit. Al Qaeda failed to terrify the American people; if any thing they only made us mad. The goal of terrorism is fear, and rather than blow us apart the attacks on 9/11 drew the American people together. What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.
How about a Christian perspective? I feel pretty good about the strength and resolve of our nation, even in the current political and economic climate. But our hope is not in kings or kingdoms of this world. If our buildings and our nation falls, as Christians we are ambassadors of God’s Kingdom, a kingdom not made with hands. Our hope is not in this life. ”And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” -Matthew 10:28 God has not given us a spirit of fear (2 Tim 1:7). I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Phil 4:13).
The 9/11 terror attacks failed to intimidate our nation. Christians do not fight against flesh and blood, but against power and principalities, and spiritual evil in high places (Ephesians 6). We will not forget… and we will not fear.
