REFLECTIONS OF A BELOVED SISTER

By Noel Serrano

Frances S. Rosado,The Daughter of Felicita and Francisco Serrano went on to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 18, at 8:27 PM Frances came from a large family with six brothers and two sisters. She was not the oldest but she demonstrated throughout her life to be the daughter that most resembled her Mother. She was the kind of sister that many all long for. She was a tall, tan, beautiful girl in her teen years. She had a certain "Natalie Wood" quality about her that never left her. When Frances was very young, she took the noble initiative to run to Jamaica Blvd in Queens,NY to buy assorted gifts, wrap them up and quietly woke up each brother and sister to hand a gift. She would assemble all of us in the large hallway that overlooked the Master bed room where we would all march methodically to bring the gifts to our parent's bedroom. This was the standard that she set on Christmas, Fathers Day, Mothers day and even on Easter. Frances demonstrated a capacity to love, care and nurture her siblings at a very young age. She took pride in each of us as she clothed us. She would tie us up in our Dining Room chairs so that we wouldn't fidget and leave the table without eating. Frances could be stern at times. She could command a powerful slap and quite memorable spankings every now and then, when needed. In her youth, she was known as the rebellious one who often colored outside of the boundering lines, but she loved her Mom and Dad and her family. Frances, at a young age, at the insistence of her mother, joined the Church Choir and was her Mother's Pupil at the Church Seminary. She often accompanied her Mom daily as they travelled to work. It is , therefore, no surprise to see that Frances was able to draw so much from her mother. Frances had the ability to really listen objectively and patiently without commenting. She was always the calming balm that soothed the bruises and binded the hurts in our family. Frances also had the capacity to bury her hurts and disappointments deep within her and no one, but God would know what she endured. in the early 1970s she married and raised her family of two boys and two girls. She instilled in them all that she was taught and raised them with the same love and nurture that was quite evident when she helped raise us. In 1988, Frances won the Gala Award for Woman of the Year. She had risen to the level of a Noble and Beloved Sister who never tired of doing what was right for her family, who sought to live life with dignity and with a fiery determination to survive all that came her way. Now, our beloved sister goes to her reward and to her final rest.We will never forget her and we all share in a hope that firmly under girds us ...that we will , one day see her again and all our loved ones. We will all be with our Lord and Redeemer for all Eternity.Amen.
