IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY COMMUNICATION WITH THE LORD.
By Temitope Shoga
To start with, whenever the word FAMILY is mentioned what comes to mind is a nuclear or extended family. Also when the word COMMUNICATION is mentioned, we’ll think of the process by which two or more persons/device relate one with another with an understanding. As Christians, the most effective and direct communication we can have with our Lord God is PRAYER AND DEVOTION. In a Christian family, following the principle of Matt. 18:19-20 which says “Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my father which is in heaven for where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them”. When we come together as a family to commune with God, it makes things of life easier, requests answered speedily and above all it brings down the presence of God into our midst.Psalm 127:1-2 says “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep”. In our world today, we get so busy and either forget to communicate with God individually or together as one, this ought not to be so because communicating with the Lord in agreement brings the family closer and it’s like letting God know he is the overall HEAD of your family. There’s a saying that “A family that prays together stays together”. If we spend time daily or often as a family to commune with God, it creates a platform for sharing personal challenges, know one another’s strengths and weaknesses spiritually and in other ramifications, thereby sharing the word of God together in exhortation and edification to uphold one another. Pro 27:17 says “Iron sharpeneth iron: so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend”.I will like to use this medium and opportunity to encourage we the youths and Christian parents to believe that we can make a difference in ourselves, our families and our generation. We can make a revolution, Daniel, Esther and others did it, we can DO IT!!! Exo 23:25-26 says “And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. There shall nothing cast their young; nor be barren, in they land: the number of thy days I will fulfill”. When we collectively work on bringing our family to communicate together with the lord, it will in turn change our neighbourhood positively, our state, our country and the earth at large. No matter the colour of our skin, no matter how big or small we are physically, no matter how financially buoyant we are, Brethren we can make a difference through effective family communication with the lord.God bless you all!!!!SHALOM
